Transportation
By working with our cities and TxDOT, Debbie has been able to leverage resources to provide the safety and mobility to those traveling our local and state roadways. Every day that she has served in office, she has worked alongside our neighbors to address the needs of a fast growing county. Debbie has taken great strides toward ensuring a safer Hays County, including:
Construction of FM 110
Debbie secured approval for the construction of FM 110, a road project with three segments: FM 110 South from SH 123 to FM 621, FM 110 Middle from FM 621 to SH 80, and FM 110 North from SH 80 to I-35 at Yarrington Road. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Hays County had previously agreed on roles and responsibilities through an Advance Funding Agreement (AFA) in 2014. The construction of FM 110 South is scheduled for July 2019, and the project needed formal support from the involved entities, following new TxDOT construction requirements.
I-35 At Posey Road Project
Debbie played a key role in advancing and bringing forward the completion of the I-35 at Posey Project, which has been proven to be a successful, impactful infrastructure development. This significant initiative, costing $31.7 million and funding by the Hays County/TxDOT Partnership, focused on enhancing safety and mobility through the reconstruction and reconfiguration of the I-35 at Posey Road interchange. The project, spanning two years and managed in four phases by contractor Webber, LLC, involved various improvements such as elevating I-35 main lanes over Posey Road, enhancing connectivity, and integrating bicycle and pedestrian paths.
Dacy Lane Illumination
Debbie presented and received approval for a deal between Hays County and the City of Kyle regarding the improvement of Dacy Lane. The city wanted to add street lights and widen the sidewalk along Dacy Lane from Bebee Road to Amberwood Loop. The agreement stated that the city would cover the costs for these improvements, including construction delays, totaling around $557,682.02.
