Elections
Election Integrity and voting rights are of the utmost importance to democracy, and Debbie understands how vital that is to a fully represented community. To ensure that every voice is heard, Debbie has:
Voting Polls at Texas State University
Debbie understands the importance of involving Texas State University students in our decision-making processes. By supporting the decision to add more voting booths on campus, she showed us how she does not take students' voices lightly, and instead finds extreme value in their opinions, visions, and goals for our country's future.
Countywide Polling Place Program Resolution
Debbie proposed and successfully received approval for Hays County to adopt a resolution supporting the Countywide Polling Place Program. This program allows the use of countrywide voting centers instead of having separate polling places for each precinct. The county applied to the Texas Secretary of State for this program, and public meetings on the voting system were held. The goal was to reduce provisional ballots and making voting more convenient for residents.
Hart InterCivic/Verity Duo System
Debbie brought forward and received approval for Hays County to bring forward a new voting system for the November 2019 election, which included a hybrid paper-ballot verification that made it accessible for disabled voters and allowed curb-side voting.
